Where you are staying, which day is free, roughly how far you like to ride and who is coming. WhatsApp is quickest. We reply the same day with a route, a start time and a price for the day.
We ask for your saddle height, your inseam and the pedals you ride. Your Cervélo goes on the workshop bench the afternoon before, set to your numbers with your pedals fitted, so the first pedal stroke feels like your own bike rather than a hire bike.
He arrives at your villa, hotel or resort at the hour you chose, anywhere from Lagos to Tavira. A few minutes of final adjustment on the driveway and you roll out from where you are standing.
One guide with one rider, or with the friends who came with you. He sets the pace to your legs, takes the sheltered road when the wind is up, carries the tools, the spares and the food, and has a van he can call if the weather turns or you would rather stop early.
A pastel de nata in the square at Monchique. A bica in the sun at Sagres. A long lunch, if that is the sort of day you want. We do not rush this part.
It goes straight into the van, and so does Brad. The rest of the day carries on exactly as planned, apart from the ride now in your legs.

01 · One rider
You ride properly at home. A club run most weekends, a sportive or two a year, a bike you chose carefully. You’re not training for anything this week, but a week off the bike isn’t a holiday either. This is the day that sorts it.
02 · One or two riders
You ride for the pleasure of it, not the numbers. Sixty kilometres on quiet roads, a long stop somewhere with a view, home in time for lunch. If a partner wants to come, we choose a route that suits you both and let the conversation set the pace.
03 · Four to six riders
Four or six of you sharing a villa, one day set aside for the bikes. Six Cervélos at the gate, one guide, and a route that keeps everyone together, with a café stop where nobody checks their watch.
04 · One rider
You ride a bit at home and you’ve never been on a bike like this, on roads like these. This is the day to find out, with someone beside you who does it every week and a pace that’s yours from the first kilometre.
We do not run scheduled departures and we do not put strangers together. Six riders is the most we take with one guide, and most days it is one rider and one guide. The day starts at the hour you choose.

Brad founded Velo Algarve with his wife Juli and moved here two years ago. He has ridden every road on this page, most of them many times, and he is the one who turns up at your door. Not a seasonal guide hired for the summer.
That matters more than it sounds.
Which lanes are empty on a Saturday morning and which ones the coaches use. Three years of riding them every week.
Fóia from the Monchique side or from the north, depending on the wind that day. He has done both enough times to know which one you will enjoy.
The Atlantic decides the route on the west coast. He reads it the night before and plans the return leg with the wind at your back.
Which places do proper coffee and which ones only look like they do. Three years of finding out.
Yours, not his. Want to ride hard? He will sit on the front and pull. Want an easy day and a long coffee? That is a good day too.
The back roads the coaches never find and the coast road before it wakes up. Most people who come to the Algarve never see this side of it. You will.

Velo Algarve delivers a Cervélo to your villa or hotel, set to your measurements, and Brad, who owns the business, rides the route with you. There are no scheduled departures and no strangers in the group. At the end, the bike goes back in the van.
No. The bike comes to you, fitted to your saddle height with your pedals on, and goes away again when you finish. You bring a helmet and cycling shoes. The route, the tools, the spares and the guide are all part of the day. Helmets and shoes can be arranged if you'd rather travel with nothing.
Yes. If your bike has travelled with you, Brad will guide you on it and the day is quoted without the Cervélo. Bring it built and ready to ride. The route, the tools, the spares and the cafe stop are still part of the day, and the guiding is exactly the same.
Brad, the founder of Velo Algarve. He's lived in the Algarve for three years and rides these roads every week. He knows which lanes are quiet, which side of Foia to climb when the wind is up, and which cafes do proper coffee. He rides beside you for the whole day. He isn't a seasonal guide hired for the summer.
As long or as short as you want. A relaxed sixty kilometres with a long coffee stop fills a morning. An epic hundred and fifty through the mountains takes the whole day and earns the dinner afterwards. Most guests land somewhere in between. You set the distance and we build the route to match.
If you ride at home, you're fine. The pace is yours: ride hard and Brad will sit on the front and pull, take it easy and the day gets a longer coffee stop. Foia is a real mountain and we only suggest it to riders who climb regularly. Tell us what you ride and we match the day to it.
One to six with a single guide. Most days are one rider and Brad. Couples ride together on a route that suits both, and groups of four to six sharing a villa get six Cervélos at the gate and a route that keeps everyone together. Larger parties are quoted separately.
